Medical Planner / Medical Equipment Planner

 

JOB SUMMARY

Sherlock, Smith & Adams, Inc. (SS&A) is seeking an experienced Medical Planner / Medical Equipment Planner with demonstrated medical planning / medical equipment planning skills in healthcare facilities. Medical Planning for healthcare projects includes the planning and programming for the documentation for medical and dental facilities. Medical Equipment Planning for healthcare construction involves the selection, specification, and development of procurement documentation for medical equipment, relative to new construction and renovation projects. This position is based out of Montgomery, AL or remote location.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide medical planning / medical equipment planning including clinical space planning, capital equipment needs assessment, identification, specification and coordination with the rest of the design team of equipment requirements.

Provide professional customer interface and client relations. Interview and verify functional flow, patient workloads, staffing and medical equipment requirements with the client and make recommendations for ‘best practice of care”

Develop medical space requirements (program planning) based on current code and criteria

 

Develop clinical concept of operations narratives

 

Analyzes medical facilities for short and long range planning

 

Analyzes functional layouts and operations of existing facilities and provides recommendations for corrective action

 

Resolve medical functional problems arising during construction.

Work with clients to identify medical equipment needs and requirements based on industry and military outfitting standards

Manage and maintain the SS&A equipment system, provide specification sheets, cut sheets and data sheets to designers and to the client as required

Working ability to communicate detailed planning schedules to management and clients. Ability to interact in planning groups for varied sized projects. Ability to articulate critical information in a non-technical matter to varying levels of healthcare professionals

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

Working knowledge of a variety of healthcare clinical systems and clinical applications and general knowledge of the operations and organization of all other hospital services and delivery models;

Previous experience working at DoD medical facilities as a Health Facility Project Planning Officer, Medical Planner or Medical Equipment Logistics/Planner is preferred

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus;

Excellent written and verbal communications;

Independent problem-solving and decision making skills;

Ability to multitask with attention to detail and to meet competing deadlines;

Proficiency in web-based applications and MS Office 2010+, especially EXCEL;

Ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment;

AutoCAD  and Revit experience is a plus;

 

Must be willing to travel to client locations;

Detail oriented but also able to comprehend the entire design process which involves many activities in-directly related to medical equipment planning (furniture, security, way finding).

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:  

A minimum of 5+ years’ experience working within a medical treatment facility as a health care professional, Medical Planner,  Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) / Medical Equipment Planner or Health Care Architect. Prefer a candidate with a healthcare planning, clinical or BMET background with exposure to all aspects of the medical planning / medical equipment management process. A working knowledge of SEPS and JSN’s is preferred.
