Regional Product Sales Specialist – North Region
Overall Purpose
The Regional
Product Sales Specialist identifies new customers and expands relationships
with existing customers within the Operations department of water and
wastewater utilities. Working together with ADS Sales representation, the Regional
Product Sales Specialist will lead market awareness for level monitoring, work
Operations-focused shows and events, manage field demonstrations, and support
level monitoring work being done within the region.
Ultimately, the Regional Product Sales Specialist will develop his/her skillset to become a Business Development Representative (regional sales generalist).
Job Responsibilities
The Regional
Product Sales Specialist is expected to:
Drive lead generation marketing activities in the assigned region for the assigned products, primarily to the Operations department within a wastewater utility. Activities include identifying and working local shows and events, working with management on knowledge transfer opportunities such as webinars, and vigorous prospecting in coordination with the local ADS sales representative.
Identify through in-person and phone nurturing efforts the decision makers and budget owners at a wastewater utility and qualify the opportunity and establish productive, professional relationships with key personnel.
Manage all logistics associated with completing a successful field demonstration and deliver customer training as required.
Be effective as an individual and team contributor by partnering with corresponding Senior Account Managers (SAMs) and Business Development Managers (BDMs) to identify and close sales opportunities.
Assist SAMs and BDMs to be more knowledgeable and competitive with respect to level monitoring products and solutions within their geographies.
Set-up joint travel days with SAMs and BDMs to work potential opportunities.
Be a product expert and demonstrate our solution to effectively match our product capabilities to the customer's needs and then, in close cooperation with our SAMs and BDMs, remove all competitive obstacles to finalize an order for ADS.
Continually promote ADS's breadth of product offering on all sales calls to deliver maximum customer value and to drive greater growth opportunities for the company.
Provide routine feedback related to technology and customer needs to support new product development.
Depending on
experience and familiarity with the Operations department within wastewater
utilities, additional training may be necessary. The candidate must demonstrate
mastery through prior experience or training of the different aspects of each
position below to enable them to function successfully in an independent sales
role.
Field
Operations: In this phase the
employee will function as a member of a typical field crew to perform fieldwork
with all ADS product lines which may include but not be limited to the
following: flow monitoring, SSES, and service maintenance. The employee will be
responsible for operating and maintaining all ADS issued equipment and vehicles
associated with the above product lines. Safety training and certification up
to Level 2 at a minimum is required in this role.
Flex Time: In this phase the employee will gain exposure to the other ADS work functions and departments including Finance, Human Resources, Product Management, Research & Development and Marketing. Flex time will also provide the opportunity to go back to any of the previously offered material in field services for additional review and learning.
Sales Training: In this phase the employee will go through a combination of internal and external sales training and will be assigned a Sales Mentor to help develop pertinent skills and to become knowledgeable in ADS sales, products/services, customers, competitors, and territories.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Four year degree from an accredited institution or 0-3 years equivalent experience required
High energy and a “can do” attitude as demonstrated by academic/extracurricular activities as well as past work history
Comfortable working independently, owning demonstrations, and taking direction from supervisors
Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time
Willingness to relocate
Interest in a long-term career in sales
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
Superior problem solving ability, initiative, and resourcefulness
Ability to build relationships, work well with a team and across functions, and work independently
Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously with effective time management skills to meet deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Clear ability to work with a diverse range of customers
Aptitude to learn consultative selling and closing skills
Aptitude to learn how to identify and acquire new accounts
Willingness and ability to participate in field activities
Aptitude to develop an understanding and proficiency of ADS software and equipment and how they tie together
Aptitude to learn basic hydraulic principles
Aptitude to learn how to determine customer requirements and which ADS products/services will best fit needs economically
Must have a valid driver’s license and a passing Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check
Must be able to pass a background screening to include, but not limited to, criminal, drug, and credit screenings
