Grants Accounting Analyst (7102-44)
MDRC is adding to its Finance Department and seeks a Grants Analyst/Accountant, with opportunities for advancement. The position will be responsible for post-award financial management for a portfolio of projects funded by federal agencies, foundations, and universities. The Analyst/Accountant will also be involved with month- and year-end accounting processes and reconciliations, financial reporting, and audits. The position reports to a Finance Manager and works in close collaborator with the Controller.
Responsibilities:
- Set up new grants and contracts in the financial system (JAMIS Prime ERP) for effective reporting and tracking of expenditures.
- Prepare monthly billings and financial reports for cost-reimbursement, time and materials, and fixed-price contracts.
- Prepare adjusting entries and job cost adjustments as needed.
- Monitor receivables and expenses relative to obligated funding and terms of award. Initiate follow-up with funders and project staff as needed.
- Provide reconciliations and analyses to support the monthly and year-end closing processes.
- Assist with preparation of financial reporting for management, audit schedules, Form 990, etc.
- Prepare budgets and other financial information for grant and contract modifications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- One to five years of accounting, audit, or related work experience.
- Strong attention to detail and deadlines.
- Demonstrated personal initiative, adaptable, and motivated to learn.
- Strong interest in the nonprofit sector.
- Excellent command of Excel, including pivot tables.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with a variety of people.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting and federal funding regulations preferred.
