Editorial Intern

Rubin Pfeffer Content is a literary agency exclusively representing children’s and young adult literature. Working closely with authors, RPC is devoted to producing long-lasting children’s literature: work that exemplifies outstanding writing and innovative creativity. RPC represents a number of acclaimed clients, including 2017 National Book Award in Young People's Literature Finalist Elana K. Arnold and 2017 Caldecott Honor winner Carole Boston Weatherford.
A literary agency is an agency that represents authors and their written works to book publishers. The agency develops the manuscript with the author until it is publishable, then negotiates the sale of the work to the publisher. A literary agency must be extremely selective in the authors and manuscripts it chooses to represent.
Rubin Pfeffer Content's fall editorial internship will allow students interested in children’s and young adult publishing to read and critically evaluate middle-grade and young adult fiction manuscripts submitted by writers who want to be represented by the agency. Working closely with the associate literary agent, the intern will review manuscripts in a variety of genres (including fantasy, science fiction, and contemporary realistic), write reader’s reports, and draft rejections.
