JOB DESCRIPTION
The Marketing Intern will be responsible for marketing and selling GradMail subscriptions at the schools sporting events, large functions, and alumni gatherings. Approximately 70% of your time will be in direct contact with potential customers. Promoting GradMail through social media and on campus advertising will also be an important part of the job. This is a thirteen-week internship and is a paid position. There is also the opportunity to gain academic credits. Full-time positions may be available upon graduation.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The main objective of the internship is to provide sales and marketing experience to students in order to help prepare them for a career after graduation. Interns will be trained directly by their manager as well as by participating in a structured, professional online training program. Our aim is to provide interns with the skills, language and confidence to be successful. Interns will learn leadership and networking skills, the steps of the sales cycle, advertising including social media, how to track and report weekly progress, business development, building revenue pipelines and more. Strategic thinking will also be a part of the curriculum and each intern will be asked to develop and present a marketing strategy based on their experience with GradMail at the end of the internship.
SUPERVISION
Interns will report to a seasoned sales and marketing manager who will run the program from a remote location. The manager will have weekly calls with the interns to offer specialized sales training as well as to review activity from the week. Supportive encouragement and feedback are utilized to help interns develop professional abilities that fit their style
SCHEDULE/COMPENSATION
Approximately 10-15 hours per week will be required. Marketing Interns will be paid for each GradMail subscriber they secure with a potential bonus at the end of the program.
