Associate Principal, Intelligence, Enterprise Finance Strategy-Sg2

The Associate Principal, Intelligence will focus on the development of enterprise-wide intelligence offerings and solutions for Sg2’s health care provider and supplier clients. This expert position will focus on financial and payment trends, contracting and financial impact analyses. The Associate Principal will analyze health care trends, emerging payment developments, and market forces that will shape the future of care delivery, and help translate these factors into strategic business recommendations and resources. As part of Sg2's project team of experts, he/she will be engaged in various areas of our business including creating industry-leading thought leadership and tools (intelligence and analytical tools), supporting members in their strategic decision making (daily advisory as a part of member service) and consulting (unique, paid project work).
Responsibilities:

  • Integrate knowledge of trends and the changing landscape of health system financing to advise clients making strategic decisions and developing strategic plans (research briefings, presentations, webinars, phone calls to offer advice/answer client questions).
  • Translate industry and regional knowledge to inform the annual update to Sg2’s core analytics – the Impact of Change Demand Forecast tool and Hyperlocalization tool.
  • Lead cross-functional teams across analytics, intelligence and consulting to ensure understanding of key strategic issues and develop integrated Sg2 solution.
  • Collaborate with consulting leads and participate as a subject matter expert in consulting projects as needed.
  • Work with intelligence, analytics team members and client service team to ensure high quality, timely responses to client questions by conducting phone calls and contributing to written responses if needed.
  • Deliver future-focused, compelling onsite presentations to member executive leadership teams and industry groups in multiple strategic areas.
  • As needed, present at or participate in Sg2 and/or Vizient conference events, affinity group meetings, etc.
  • Learn and utilize the full suite of Sg2 analytics tools and advise in the development of enhancements.
  • The ultimate goal is to provide comprehensive research-driven strategic intelligence to improve the clinical, operational and financial success at client healthcare organizations. 
Qualifications:
We are seeking highly motivated individuals with a consistent record of professional and personal achievement. Creativity, initiative, resourcefulness and an entrepreneurial spirit are a must, in addition to the following:

  • Advanced degree (CPA, MBA, MHA, Masters, PhD) strongly preferred in finance,  economics, health administration or policy.
  • 12 years minimum work experience in a hospital/health system, consulting firm, or health care-related company, focused on finance at the senior level.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT) including ability to create documents, spreadsheets and slide decks with minimal assistance; experience with Tableau a plus.
  • Willingness to perform detailed analytical analysis of historical trends, Sg2 proprietary databases to help inform annual demand forecast analytic . 
  • Proven track record collaborating and leading cross-functional teams across an organization on complex projects combined with experience managing, coaching and developing talent.
  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects combined with comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as demonstrated by the ability to synthesize research and interviews into healthcare strategy recommendations, frameworks and project proposals.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills-both written and verbal along with well-developed people and client relationship skills.
  • An uncompromising commitment to quality and a passion for health care.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time.
