Fashion Public Relations Internship

Brief description of KCD Remote Internship Opportunity for Spring 2021 
To foster an educational and robust experience for those eager to get a start in the Fashion Public Relations industry. 

Primarily the program focuses on gaining an understanding of the media landscape today. What media is valued by brands? How do brands strategically target media to raise brand awareness? How can a brand measure success in their medial placements? Each intern will be assigned to work very closely with one to two Publicists on tracking results for 3-4 brands. At the end of their internship they will have developed a research project that can be added to their personal portfolio for future job opportunities. The KCD team they are assigned to will guide, teach and support the intern in their learning process, and help them to cultivate more knowledge of the fashion industry. 
Intern’s Role for the KCD Internship Program 
  • Track 3-4 brand’s media placement results – monitor and compile print and digital press and format to send to clients on a weekly and/or monthly basis. This will include ongoing collection editorial as well as initiative placements and event launches. 
  • Use top industry tools to measure value of results 
  • Gain understanding from the team on the KPI’s set for each brand or initiative and analyze results to measure success 
  • Develop a project that compares two of the brands to analyze each’s opportunities to help guide strategy for the next season 
  • Communicate with Publicists on progress and status of reporting 
Knowledge, skills or techniques to be gained during this program 
  • Key software used to monitor and track media and influencers 
  • Public Relations report formats 
  • Professionalism in dealing with clients, press and coworkers  
  • Brand knowledge and public relations goal setting skills 
  • Strengthen communication and multi-tasking skills 
  • Gain knowledge of key magazines and online outlets, editors and stylists in US fashion industry 
Remote work Structure 
  • Weekly zoom call check-in’s with Publicist and monthly check-in with Director 
  • Midterm and final evaluation by Publicist  
  • End-of-internship research project that consists of an analysis of the tasks and responsibilities that were assigned  
  • Hours a week: 20 hrs
