Computer Scientist/Software Engineer/Web Development Intern

WxIntegrationsTM, LLC is seeking a student with experience in computer programming and website development/design to assist in the development of code, algorithms, and websites to support our industry specific weather alerts and real-time weather dashboard interface.

The intern will need to develop in a Unix OS environment. For their development of this cloud-based software system or SaaS, the intern will access PostgreSQL databases for input data sets, develop, test and execute Python code, write output to a PostgreSQL database, provide other output data sets (such as CSV, XML or JSON formats) that will be accessed by our front-end website app, GrowCasterTM and develop in a Django web framework.

Qualifications:

  • Access to a Unix based laptop or desktop.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Skills:

  • Experience using Unix/Linux OS (required).
  • Python programming (required).
  • Django – Python Web Application Framework (preferred).
  • Experience with web service design and porting code from Development operations to Production in a continuous development strategy (desired).
  • Experience using Git (required). Desired use with Bitbucket, Github, etc.
  • Experience using Amazon Web Services or other cloud-based coding services (desired).
  • Experience with developing and querying relational databases (required).
  • Experience with PostgreSQL. Database-driven website experience (preferred).
  • Knowledge of development within Containers Virtual Environments (desired).
    • Docker (bonus).
  • Experience developing and/or updating web application features using JavaScript, Python, Django, Angular, Ajax, HTML, CSS and other front-end languages (at least one language required).
  • App Development (bonus).
  • Knowledge of datasets including netCDF, GRIB, HDF5, and etc. (bonus).

Fulfillment of skills above does not have to be through formal college education. Self-taught skills using online classes through Codeacademy, Udemy and other online venues including MOOT courses are acceptable.

This is a non-paid internship; however, if the individual directly contributes to an increase in revenues some compensation is possible. In addition depending on the outcomes of the internship, future employment with WxIntegrations may be possible.
